Setting up the Perfect Morning Routine

What I use in the mornings

Every day can be a perfect day if you start with the right routine. Okay, so that might be an exaggeration, but most days are better when they start off in a good way.

Beginning a morning routine can be tricky, and will be a little bit different for every individual, but there are a few things that simply shouldn’t be skipped when we’re waking up.

1. Meditation

Meditation is a great way to allow positive energy to enter your mind and body as you’re beginning your day. It offers time to focus on yourself, your breathing, and your goals for the day. Meditation should be done in a quiet space and can last anywhere from five minutes to as long as you want.

It is a great thing to do right as you wake up; meditation is a great replacement for the morning social media scroll!! This will help get positivity vibes rolling.

2. Drink water

A big glass of water is a great way to get the mind thinking about hydration for the day and to wake up the body. Water will wake you up (not as well as coffee, but it’ll start you toward that morning beauty). This little thing is a great way to begin a healthy daily habit, and wake up at the same time!

3. Look at the to-do list

Having daily goals is a great thing, whether they are big or small. I love having my planner right next to me as I wake up, just to see what I have standing ahead of me. One look at a to-do list can help you mentally prepare for the day and gauge productivity necessities.

Instead of reading Cosmo in the morning, maybe you can replace it with sending that very important email to your boss!

4. Write down one thing you’re grateful for

Being gracious doesn’t need to be hard, and in fact, writing down one thing that you’re grateful for every day can lead to more appreciation of the good things in your life rather than noticing only the bad. I enjoy this step the most because finding things to be grateful for is never hard, but doing it on the spot makes it seem that way.

If you are grateful for a person that day, tell them. If you’re grateful for an object, like the mountains, take a moment while you’re walking to look up and smile at them. This will also help implement more positivity into your life.
